Visual Basic Command Line Compiler errors
I had a client that kept having a windows popup with this info: Data Execution Prevention, To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program. Name: Visual Basic Command Line Compiler. Publisher: Microsoft Corporation.
He would click Close Message, but it would keep popping up continuously. As I looked, I found that it was a terrible Keylogger virus. I used MalwareBytes’ Anti-Malware to kill it and did some manual cleaning after. I did see that it captured many user names and passwords — very nasty!!
can not get rid of this window popping up telling me that visual basic command line compiler has closed windows to protect computer, what should i do.
See if you can install and run MalwareBytes’ Anti-Malware to determine whether you are infected.
I am having the same issue w/ this window popping up ALL the time….how nasty is this virus to begin with???
I am going to try running Malwarebytes(which I already have on my desktop)…do you recommened doing this in safe mode??? I just want to be done with it…period….
Where and how does this come from to begin with and could you please offer tips, if any, to keep it from returning???
Running MalwareBytes’ Anti-Malware in safe mode does work, just make sure to install it before you go into safe mode.
Here are my tips:
-Remove all versions of Java unless you absolutely need it.
-Make sure that Adobe Reader is set to automatically update (and it’s updating)
-Use a trustworthy antivirus (here is a good place to look: http://www.av-test.org/en/tests/test-reports/novdec-2011/)
-Make sure that Windows Update is functioning properly
-Be skeptical when searching – the bad guys are looking to trick you always
-Be very careful with email attachments – UPS, FedEx, IRS, etc will not send you an attachment
popup keeps coming back
popup stays on
These viruses are getting more and more difficult to remove. I would try TDSSKiller from Kaspersky and HitmanPro as my next tools or take it to a pro.
Try ThreatFire from PC Tools, it quickly sourced and killed the virus
